Year end brings a flurry of activity for the accounting
staff of all companies. Even if December is not the final
month of your accounting year, W-2's, 1099s and other tax
reporting can be a strain. It also creates work for
software companies, their support staff and resellers.
I-Business Network has compiled a list of tips for year
end processing that can help you through this busy time.

Accounting Software Systems |

A recent article by Scott H. Cytron explores the costs
of accounting software. "While the company's cost of a
software program beyond its purchase price may be
obvious to some who work in the accounting software
space or in the IT function, these costs could very well
be missed by a procurement director, end user or even
the head of an accounting firm who has far less
knowledge and concentrates on other tasks."
This insightful article covers what companies should
expect in total cost of operations. One aspect it does
not cover is how using an ASP can take all of the costs
of operation and reduce them to a single monthly payment
that is less than what most small to medium sized
businesses can achieve on their own. Our ASP services
can reduce the costs sighted in the article by as much
as 50%! Check out the article, and then call an I-BN
representative to find out how we can save you money!

Best Software reported record earnings and profits for
the year ended September 30, 2003. Total revenue was
$424.7 million, and operating income was $99.1 million,
increases of four percent and 17 percent, respectively,
over the same period of the prior year. "Even in a tough
economy, our business continues to grow," said Best
Software CEO Ron Verni. "We are continuing to deliver on
our stated strategy of supporting our customers through
the life of their business, providing solutions through
a vertical industry focus, and pursuing an acquisition
strategy."
The company also continued to pursue in 2003 its
aggressive acquisition strategy. Its most recent U.S.
acquisition was of Timberline Software Corporation, a
leading supplier of integrated financial and operations
software and services for small to mid-sized businesses
in the construction and real estate industries.
And on December 23rd, Ron Verni got a big Christmas
present when Best Software, Inc., announced that its
UK-based parent company, The Sage Group plc, has agreed
to acquire Pleasanton, California-based business
management software vendor ACCPAC International, Inc
